As a young man who is willing and ready to start a professional life, you need to understand the need and importance of good dressing. Young men claim to be leaders of tomorrow but still dress differently. There are so many professions young men/graduates who dressing smart if one thing you need in any of these professions.

Look neat, dress sharp and let your looks speak for you… as future leaders we need to understand the importance of good dressing. Imagine you going for a Job interview with polo and a pair of Jean… hahahah…, you may look neat but that’s certainly not what to wear at that moment.

The right clothing can make a very good impression and also give you the audience you need. Yes, people respect those who dress good and smart and are always willing to listen to whatever those kind of people have got to say. As a young man, it is worth paying attention to what you wear, u don’t necessarily have to be “rich” to look smart.

Don’t forget that, looking neat and putting on something that fits you perfectly encourages people to pay attention to you and take you more seriously… so they don’t see you as a clown ;)
Here are some tips for dressing smart…

  • ·         Dress to look older. Quit dressing like a boy and avoid being treated as such, ignore fashion trends. Add a little age to your look and look a little bit mature.
  • ·         Let’s start from the top… A good haircut – a good haircut is a first step to looking smart. There are lots of haircuts you can wear and still look good but a decent haircut makes you look responsible and more presentable.
  • ·         Put on a well fitted Shirt. Putting on a neat T.shirt isn’t bad but not in all occasions. You might be going for a date, dinner or maybe an interview, a T.shirt is certainly not needed for these kinda outing. Get a Shirt, whether Long-sleeved or short, colors could be white or light blue (sky blue). You don’t need to get other odd colors.
  • ·         Get a nice pant or a Jean to match the shirt you put on. The pant should be well ironed or a neat blue or black jean. Not the ripped kinds of jean before you look rugged. Tuck-in and probably put on a tie to go with it.
  • ·         Lastly, put on a nice leather shoe, preferably brown or black. A well-polished shoe adds more sense and meaning to the dressing. It not compulsory you get a designer shoe, just make sure it looks neat, well-polished, fitted and presentable.
Here are my own tips for dressing smart and looking rich without necessarily being rich. I think you should try this someday when you are going on a date or an interview… not to the beach or movies.
